What to Do If You Hit a Deer

If you are driving in the Savannah, GA area, and you hit a deer, don’t panic. There are a few things that you can do to make the situation easier for both you and the deer.

Be Prepared

To avoid hitting a deer, it is important to be prepared when driving in areas where they are known to live. Deer are most active at dawn and dusk, so be extra careful during these times of the day. If you are driving at night, be sure to use your brights to see deer lingering on either side of the road.

Stay Calm

Should an accident occur, try to stay calm. You will need to think clearly in order to take care of the situation. Take a moment to collect yourself and check on the safety of any additional passengers in your vehicle. If you or any of your passengers are injured, call 911 for immediate medical assistance.

Pull Over

If it is safe to do so, move your car off of the road. This will help keep other drivers safe and will also make it easier for tow truck drivers and medical professionals to get to your vehicle.

Turn on Your Hazard Lights

Once you have pulled over to the side of the road, turn on your hazard lights. This will help to warn other drivers that there is potential danger ahead.

Call for Help

If you hit a deer, it is important to call for help right away. Tim’s Towing provides heavy-duty towing services in Savannah, GA, to provide immediate assistance and prevent further accidents. Our team is available 24 hours a day, so don’t hesitate to call for help.
